Participation in the Scout Clean Beaches Gatherings – “#B7ar_Bla_Plastic”
The Moroccan Organization of Scouts and Guides took part in the Scout Clean Beaches Gatherings, organized within the national Clean Beaches Programme and the “A Sea Without Plastic” campaign, an environmental initiative aimed at raising awareness about plastic pollution and protecting Morocco’s coastal and marine ecosystems.
In 2023, the National Federation of Moroccan Scouting launched the 19th edition of the Scout Clean Beaches Gatherings on 13 July, as part of the national programme led by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection. The initiative mobilized Scouts and young people around environmental education, waste reduction and responsible behaviour on beaches.
Through its participation, the Moroccan Organization of Scouts and Guides contributed to awareness-raising activities designed to help children, young people and beach visitors better understand the harmful impact of plastic waste on oceans, marine biodiversity and coastal environments.
Activities linked to the campaign included environmental workshops, awareness sessions, waste collection and sorting, recycling activities and initiatives encouraging responsible behaviour towards beaches and the marine environment. The programme also brought together Scouts, children, environmental associations and other partners around a shared commitment to cleaner and more sustainable beaches.
The Organization’s involvement reflects the educational role of Scouting in promoting environmental responsibility and encouraging young people to become active contributors to sustainable development.
By taking part in the “A Sea Without Plastic” campaign, the Moroccan Organization of Scouts and Guides reaffirmed its commitment to environmental education, community service and the Sustainable Development Goals, while helping to build a culture of respect for nature and responsible use of coastal spaces.
